Director Paul King he recently revealed that Dune the actor did not have to rehearse to get the role of Willy Wonka in the upcoming film Wonka, which follows the chocolate mogul’s background. Instead, the King revealed Chalamet’s golden ticket for his singing and dancing skills.

“It was straight forward because he’s so good and he’s the only person in my opinion who can do this,” King said Rolling Stone in an interview published on July 11. “But because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is obscure, his high school songs are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views.”

The games in question? Movies of that era King stars sing music from Sweet Charity at his Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School game.

“So I knew from Timmy Chalamet’s stand-up that he could sing and dance well,” King added. “And I knew that was in his arsenal, but I didn’t know how good he was. When I talked to him he was very enthusiastic.”
