Ted Lieu Dispels the GOP Lie That the DOJ Is Out to Take the Trumpet

Through a series of questions to FBI Director Chris Wray, Rep. Ted Lieu (D-CA) disputed the GOP’s claims that the DOJ wants to find Trump through a two-pronged justice system.

Movie:

Notes:

Lieu: I’m going to ask you a few questions that are important to you, the American people, about our justice system. Trump adviser Roger Stone was found guilty in federal court. Correct?

Wray: And that’s my memory.

Lieu: Trump donor Elliot Brady was convicted in federal court, right?

Wray: Also, my memory.

Lieu: The attorney general during the two cases was Bill Barr, which president appointed Barr as attorney general?

Wray: President Trump.

Lieu: Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, was convicted twice in federal court, right?

Wray: I believe that is correct.

Lieu: The lead attorney at the time for Cohen’s retrial was Matthew Whitaker, which president appointed Matthew Whitaker, attorney general?

Wray: President Trump.

Lieu: Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, has been found guilty. Federal court, right?

Wray: Yes.

Lieu: Trump’s deputy campaign manager, Mr. Gates, was convicted in federal court, right?

Wray: That’s my memory.

Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos was convicted and in federal court, right?

Wray: Yes. He blamed himself.

Lieu: The attorney general during the three impeachments was Jeff Sessions, which president appointed Jeff Sessions as attorney general?

Wray: President Trump.

Lieu: You were there, the head of the FBI for everyone at the time. Which president elected you?

Wray: President Trump.

Place: Ok. What this shows is that we don’t have a fair system. We have a Justice Department that goes after criminals regardless of party affiliation. All of these individuals were convicted under the leadership of three Republican attorney generals. It’s not the FBI’s fault that Donald Trump has surrounded himself with criminals. Donald Trump brought this on himself. Thanks to the FBI for exposing this scam.

There’s a Two-Party Justice System, But It’s Helping Trump Not to Hurt Him

Rep. Lieu was right. There is no fair way to challenge Trump/Republicans. There are two ways of justice that benefit the rich and famous like Trump. Who can say that he will not be prosecuted until the end of 2024 because he is looking for the President? If running for president was all it took to delay the trial, every suspected criminal in the country would be announcing their campaign today.

Who else would the DOJ give a year and a half to comply with a request to return stolen property? If Trump was anyone else, he would have been in jail a year ago.

Trump has already been given every relief that other people can’t get. However, Republicans want more.

Rep, Lieu nailed it. It’s not the FBI’s fault that Trump has surrounded himself with criminals. The equal application of this law to everyone is the measure that the Republicans are trying to destroy, because if Mr. Trump is held accountable their fragile and fragile political party will fall.
