HyperPack Pro Review: Big, comfortable and affordable

I have too many bags. I tend to find one that I like, use it a bit, get bored and move on to another one. But over the past few months, I seem to have found a bag that I’m ready to settle down with. That’s it HyperPack Pro from Hyper.

What is interesting? It has a ton of space, for starters, but there are little things like a built-in pocket MagSafe a drawer, or the ability to run clotheslines anywhere inside the bag. And then there is the fact that there is a small section built into the bag that allows it to fit Apple’s Find My network – which allows you to track it and find it if someone has taken it away, or if you have misplaced it.

Let’s take a closer look at what will be in my bag for the next few months, or years.

Creation

Hyper is an accessory company best known for its USB and Lightning ports, battery packs and cables. It’s not really known for bags. So when HyperPack first announced the HyperPack Pro at CES in January, I was skeptical, but also impressed because my experience with Hyper products has always been positive.

But beyond my experience, the design of the bag checked a lot of boxes. It is a 22L bag that weighs 2.99 pounds (1.4kg) empty. Its footprint is 12.2 x 5.1 x 19.1 inches (8.5 x 31 x 13cm). The exterior is made of 1260D Cordura Nylon, providing IPX4 water resistance.

Inside, it has a six pocket design. The compartment next to your back is where you can store your laptop (up to 16 inches), tablet and other small devices if needed. The back is padded and yours MacBook it stops at the bottom of the bag to protect against those times when you accidentally drop your bag on the floor.

The central compartment has plenty of space, with three pockets in total. The bottom pocket has a zipper and several cutouts above it. This is where you can install the portable battery pack, with a cutout that provides a way to connect the cables to the rest of the pack. It is inside the closet that I have been keeping mine Fuji X-T4 and a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deckboth are in the case.

The front is where you can put all your random things, small things like business cards, keys, pen, etc. Oh, and it’s where you’ll want to keep any payment cards, because they have RFID-protected zips. pocket.

Near the top and front of the bag is a small compartment with soft material; perfect for storing your glasses or your phone.

There is also a hidden zipper that runs straight down the front of the bag, opening up a space where you can store things like a small jacket or other items. I’ve been using it for recipes, treatments and masks.

There are zippered pockets on both sides of the bag. On the left is a pocket designed to hold Apple’s MagSafe charger, which has a cable that runs back through the bag to the portable battery pack. I tried the pocket and iPhone 13 Pro Max, and even though it was a good fit, my phone was protected inside the bag and the calls were wireless. The pocket on the other side of the bag is big enough to hold a water bottle, which is what I’ve been using.

Finally, there is a hidden pocket on the back of the bag. You’ll find a zipper above the pad underneath, where you can store valuables.

You can – believe me, I have – put a lot of stuff in HyperPack Pro. I’m currently packing for a 10-day trip, and I know I can fit everything I need for work and play in one bag.

Find My guidance and support

I have been using the first model of HyperPack Pro since the beginning of January, when it was announced at CES 2023. However, as is often the case with pre-production models, I ran into several things at the same time.

My main issue was the battery cover that goes on the Find My screen. It comes loose, falls out of the module, and then lets the battery fall out. Without a battery, the unit could not connect to any nearby Apple devices. At that time, it was a normal bag that lost its market place. After that I painted the door and did it.

Luckily I got my hands on the finished model, which I’ve been using for this review – the same model that’s going out to customers right now – and I can confirm, the battery door is fixed.

Under the top handle of the bag is a small, plastic compartment with a button in the middle. It doesn’t seem like much, but that’s where the Find My feature is based. This button only serves as a tool for the initial setup and reset phase – pressing it after the initial setup does nothing.

To find this part, you need to open the main compartment on the bag, and then look for a zipper compartment inside the bag, near the top. Once it is open, you can see the battery door of the module. The expected battery life is between 250 and 300 days, and you will need to replace the CR2031 battery when it dies.

You can remove the part using a paperclip or a removal tool if you want to put the part in another bag or luggage, or you need to send the bag to repair the warranty.

The initial setup of the Find My feature and the wallet took me a few tests. From the box, you need to remove the tab between the battery and the module, and activate it. You should see this feature as a new device available in the Find My app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac, after which you can add it to your account.

However, it did not appear to me. Instead, I had to reset the unit by double-clicking the button and then holding it for three seconds until I heard a beep and the LED lit up. It took about 5 minutes, maybe a little longer, after the reset before the feature showed up in the Find My app and was ready to be added to my account.

But now that it’s installed, I can keep track of where my wallet is, even when I’m not close to it, thanks to Apple’s Find My network where many people access Find My items using iPhones, Macs and iPads. That’s how AirTags works, or even if you lose your iPhone – the Find My network helps track it.

If it’s close, and I need a little more help to point it out, I can start the audio that is played by the part. The sound is very loud and high-pitched, which should make it easy to hear rather than loud.

Sure, you can get an inexpensive bag like the HyperPack Pro and put an AirTag in there, saving yourself some money. But where I think Hyper’s product benefits its users is that there is no AirTag for any would-be thieves to look for. Unless they are familiar with this bag, they may not be aware that there is a tracker built into it. And for many, that peace of mind is worth the wallet price.

You are using it

I’ve packed a lot of stuff into the HyperPack Pro over the past few months. There was a trip to New York where I took my camera, 13-inch MacBook Pro, 12.9-inch iPad Pro, Steam Deck and my AirPods Max. I never felt like I ran out of room, although I could tell the bag was heavy as soon as it was full.

Additionally, the straps and weight distribution of the HyperPack Pro reduce the strain on my back carrying such a full bag.

One criticism I have is that I would like the shoulder pads and straps to have a little extra padding, and maybe a hidden pocket on the straps to put things like loose change, or even a hotel room key for easy access.

I really like the little loops in the bag that help run the charging cable from the battery compartment to the back compartment where you can charge your laptop or tablet, or go into the side pocket to charge a phone – MagSafe or not.

Judgment

I really like HyperPack Pro. It has plenty of room to fit everything I need on any trip, it’s great for carrying around for long periods of time, and it has a convenient design for organizing your gear on the go. Get My contact with added bonus.

Indeed, this wallet is mainly aimed at Apple and iPhone users thanks to the Find My and MagSafe features, which hinders Android users. You can just run USB-C cables anywhere and forget about MagSafe, but the price reflects its performance – and it’s those who can use it who get the biggest benefit here.
