There’s nothing more annoying than a stuttering DPI mouse, especially when you’re in the middle of a game where precise movement and fast response time are everything. Fortunately, Microsoft’s July 2023 Update for Windows 11 the goal is to fix the problem. (These changes also include changes to Windows 11 clockwhich can now display seconds.)
Apparently, the stuttering problem stems from the mouse’s high DPI demands on Windows input devices. If you’re a gamer, you’re probably working with powerful tools. But if you’re connecting multiple devices at the same time (as gamers are apt to do), you’ll have a lot of background processes going on. Your system spends a lot of time on processing, which disrupts gameplay, causing your high DPI mouse to stutter. Your PC is very busy keeping track of other inputs such as controls, voice chats, etc. This is why Windows has a hard time keeping track of everything.
Microsoft wants to solve this problem by improving the processing time of input requests. According to New Windows blog, the company “has advanced the project by shaking and connecting the audience of black mice and showing the extent of their message.” The idea is to give players a fluid gameplay even with many background processes going on at the same time. If you’re experiencing stuttering in games, a Windows upgrade may be the solution you’ve been looking for. Change (aka Windows 11 KB5028185) should be available on the Windows Update screen now.
