A presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy released a list of judges on Monday that he would consider for the Supreme Court if he became President of the United States.
Ramaswamy’s list of Supreme Court nominees includes James Ho of the US Supreme Court for the Fifth Circuit; Lawrence VanDyke of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit; Lisa Branch of the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit; Thomas Hardiman of the US Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit; Justin Walker of the US Court of Appeals, District of Columbia Circuit, and John Bush of the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Ramaswamy also included Republican Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Ted Cruz of Texas on the list, as well as former US attorney general Paul Clement.
“Our courts are the last line of defense against an ever-increasing government that seeks to deprive us of our freedom,” Ramaswamy said in a statement. “That’s why it’s more important than ever that we elect a President who will appoint judges and justices to the federal bench to protect the beliefs and ideals upon which our country was founded.”
“The list I am unveiling today includes some of the best judges in our country,” he added. “These men and women are committed to our Constitution, the rule of law, and the freedom of every person. I will rely on this short list in choosing who to appoint to the highest courts in our country.”
As for the appeals court representatives, Ramaswamy listed Martha Pacold, of the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; Sarah Pitlyk, of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri; Kathryn Mizelle, of the US District Court for the Middle District of Florida; Matthew Kacsmaryk, of the US District Court for the Northern District of Texas; Brantley Starr, of the US Supreme Court for the Northern District of Texas; Stephen Alexander Vaden, of the United States Supreme Court; and Ryan Holte, of the United States Supreme Court.
Ramaswamy’s team compiled the list “focusing on selecting those who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to fundamental principles and a commitment to the wisdom of legitimate law,” according to the campaign.
The Daily Signal has learned that they sought advice from conservative and non-profit organizations that asked not to be named.
The president spoke over the weekend at the Turning Point Action conference in Palm Beach, Florida. A Research by Trafalgar Group found that only 2% of those present would choose Ramaswamy as the first choice for president from the GOP field. Former President Donald Trump received 85.7% of the vote, and candidates Perry Johnson, a businessman, and Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, received 7.8% and 4.3% respectively.
Interestingly, 51.2% of those who attended the meeting said Ramaswamy was their second choice for president from the GOP field – ahead of Trump at 21.4% and DeSantis at 13.5%.
“It’s amazing how far he’s come in such a short time,” said TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk. he said on Sunday.
And the word “MAGA” in the group seems to be behind Ramaswamy – the editor-in-chief of National Pulse Raheem Kassamretired United States Army Lt. Gen.Mike FlynnKirk, and others showed support for the candidate over the weekend.
In an interview with The Daily Signal on Saturday, Kirk he explained Ramaswamy as the “best performer” in the Friday hall with Tucker Carlson. The TPUSA founder rejected the idea of Ramaswamy as President Trump’s running mate, but said Ramaswamy would make a good presidential candidate.
“I think he reads the room, well … he’s a professional, he’s very understanding, he’s built an amazing business,” Kirk said. “But I really want Vivek to be on the team to save America.”
