The launch date of OnePlus Open foldable can be leaked and soon

OnePlus is set to announce its first foldable phone and is poised to be an exciting addition to the growing market. Now called OnePlus Open, we think we can find out when the company wants to remove the stickers from its next device.

Although OnePlus has to confirm the same day, two new reports now point to the same day which is enough to show that there may be a fire to go with this smoke. And if it’s true, we don’t have to wait long to hear some official news at the OnePlus Open.

New folder, coming soon

Following a leak last month who shared the latest OnePlus Open mode (which was called OnePlus Fold at the time) now we have new information, this time about the announcement date. The first report comes through Smartprix and the old reliable “Arvind”. And according to them, we can expect the phone to be presented for the first time at an event on August 29, 2023. The publisher did not give details about how they got the information.

The same day has been supported by another borrower, this time as Max Jambor on Twitter. They also mention the same date of 29 August for the OnePlus Open event, although it is not clear who their sources are.

This gives us more confidence in the date, although there is a clear indication of where it may have come from. The track record of both issuers suggests that August 29th is a date worth paying close attention to.

The phone itself is worth checking out, too. Assuming that the leak is correct, we can expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip up to 16GB of RAM to form the basis of the device, combined with 256GB of storage. The main display will be a 7.8-inch curved display with 2K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Externally, the 6.3-inch display should also sport a 120Hz refresh rate through an AMOLED panel according to MySmartPrice.

Camera-wise, a 48-megapixel main sensor is expected to be joined by a 38-megapixel ultrawide and a 64-megapixel telephoto, too. The 32-megapixel and 20-megapixel selfie cameras are thought to fulfill the camera requirements.

Rounding things off, a 4,800mAh battery and 67W fast charging should be enough for most people. But it is Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 it is also expected to be announced in the same week that OnePlus whatever it is called will have strong competition to deal with right out of the gate.
