Putin added: “Wagner does not exist. There is no law on special forces.
US Pentagon officials now believe that Wagner’s forces are now involved war in Ukraine – heavily damaging Putin’s fall campaign.
Prigozhin, 62, has not been seen in public since the day of his 36-hour crime spree that ended on June 24.
Retired General Robert Abrams, a former US military commander in Korea, said: “I think he’s going into hiding or going to prison or something, but I doubt we’ll see him again.”
Asked if he thought he was alive, General Abrams added: “I don’t think he is, and if he is, he’s in prison somewhere.”
US President Joe Biden he joked that the mercenary general could be poisoned as legends swirled about his fate.
Biden said: “If I were him, I would watch what I eat, I would watch my food.
“But all joking aside, who knows? I don’t know. I don’t think any of us know exactly what Prigozhin’s future will be in Russia.”
