Russia attack: US military equipment has been delivered to Ukraine

KYIV: Ukraine’s armed forces have received military equipment promised by the United States to help bolster an ongoing offensive against Kyiv, military officials from the two countries said on Thursday.
“We just got them, we haven’t used them yet, but they can change (the battlefield),” Ukrainian military chief Oleksandr Tarnavskyi told US reporter CNN.
The United States last week said it would supply military equipment to Ukraine to support its war against Russian forces, despite concerns about the long-term threat to civilians from unexploded bombs.
“The enemy also understands that if we receive these weapons, we will have an advantage,” said Tarnavskyi, adding that the Ukrainian military cannot deploy the weapon in populated areas.
Lieutenant General Douglas Sims later confirmed the story, saying that “military forces are in Ukraine.”
Asked about the slower-than-expected advance in Ukraine, he told reporters that “this is a tough battle, it’s in a very difficult environment, it’s fire”.
“When you think about it all, it’s pretty amazing.”
President of the US Joe Biden he said the decision to provide weapons to the group was “very difficult” but stressed that Ukraine needed additional weapons to replenish its depleted stocks.
These weapons are prohibited by many countries – especially in Europe – that signed the Oslo Accords of 2008, which are not Russia, the United States or Ukraine.
The Kremlin has said it will take “combat measures” if a weapon is sent by Ukraine against its forces.
