Ratchet & Clank to launch graphics editing technology on PC

It has been a a difficult time for PC gamers in 2023, but Sony’s next big PC port could solve some of the problems. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which was originally released for PlayStation 5 two years ago, is coming to PC. It supports all the latest PC bells and whistles, plus something new: DirectStorage 1.2.

This may not seem like a big deal – after all, They predicted arrived with DirectStorage and had performance issues, while promises of a patch inside Diablo IV it should be obvious. However, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart it is the first game to use the GPU decompression feature of DirectStorage.

This dedicated hardware decompression can help reduce transient stuttering (or download stuttering), which has been in several games in 2023. This list includes Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Dead Spacebut it doesn’t seem like it Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart they will struggle with the same problems.

That’s good news, especially considering that Sony’s last PC port was such a disaster. The Last of Us Part 1 it was released in hard mode on PC, and while it’s gotten better after a few patches, it’s still not a great game. This is different from many other Sony PCs, which, at least a few popular ones like Horizon Zero Dawn, they have been regular in the implementation.

In addition to GPU decompression, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart supports several next-generation features. It comes with all the upgrade options, including Nvidia’s Deep Learning Super Sampling 3 (DLSS)AMD is FidelityFX Super Resolution 2 (FSR)and Intel’s XeSS, along with developers who are also developing a Temporal Injection image.

In addition, the game helps Nvidia DLAA and Reflex, along with light tracking of external lights and shadows. It’s a long list of features, and it looks like you’ll need a beefy PC to unlock them all.

At the very least, the game requires an Nvidia GTX 960 and an Intel Core i3-8100, which the developer says will maintain 30 frames per second (fps) at 720p with the highest settings. For the game to come out, you need Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti or AMD RX 6800, and if you want to fully explore, you need Price of RTX4080 or a Price of RX7900 XTX.

The port is managed by Nixxes, who was also responsible for the delivery Marvel’s Spider-Man and Miles Morales on pc. All of these games have some challenges when it comes to them CPU issues, but they are stable, heavy ports. Hopefully Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will join them.
