RUSSIA is threatening to use its Wagner Group to attack NATO’s ‘weakest link’ in Poland and Lithuania – a move that could trigger World War Three.
Putin’s top adviser revealed on state television that a mercenary group had taken over Belarus is ready to hit a major NATO base in “a few hours”.
The Suwalki Corridor – or Gap – is a 60-mile long cross-border line between them. Poland and Lithuania – and now he is being threatened by a Russian politician.
This is a very important process NATO and the EU – as well Russia.
To the west, it is the only land bordering the three ex-Soviet Baltic states – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia – that appears vulnerable to Putin if tensions escalate.
For Russia, access control would provide a link between the Baltic region of Kaliningrad, the main base of Putin’s Baltic Fleet, and Kremlin ally Belarus.

Reservist Colonel General Andrey Kartapolov, now an MP who is the loyal chairman of the Russian parliament’s defense committee, told state TV: “It is clear that Wagner. [mercenary army] went to Belarus to train Belarusian soldiers…
“There are places like the Suwalki Corridor.
“If anything happens, we need the Suwalki Corridor very much…
“Warriors [based in Wagner forces in Belarus] I am ready to take this balcony in a few hours.”
His plan for a “severe punch” of land grabs would have targeted the less-populated sector known as NATO’s “Achilles heel” or “soft heel”.
Because it may be the first place to come into contact with the Third World War, the corridor has been called “the most dangerous place in the world”.
Russia’s move here and Wagner’s government support could trigger NATO’s Article 5, setting up the Alliance against Russia.
However, Poland is also growing rapidly due to threats from Moscow, and Germany and sending 4,000 troops permanently to Lithuania as NATO strengthens its presence in the Baltic states.
Thousands of Wagner soldiers have arrived in Belarus in recent days.
