NSW Blues’ Josh Addo-Carr put on a great performance in practice video vs Queensland Maroons

The Blue‘ new left-back form asked big questions for the Maroons early on State of Origin III – and a Josh Addo-Carr try that replayed long in the future was an interesting peppering.

Second rower Liam Martin spoiled a number of opportunities set up by recalling the fifth and eighth Why Walkerbut Addo-Carr capitalized on Walker’s chances as he broke down the left wing, cut in, collected and scored.

Walker pounced on Isaah Yeo’s pass in the New South Wales half, took a scoot and produced a combination by capturing Daly Cherry-Evans and beating Bradman Best with a cut ball.

Addo-Carr’s heroics followed – the Bulldogs’ forward hitting open grass, beating Maroons back AJ Brimson, kicking the footy and scoring the Blues’ second try of the game.

“Josh Addo-Carr has magic.

“I’d say, that’s Slater-esque!”

Former Queensland captain Cameron Smith gave Addo-Carr’s talent a big rap.

“It was magic! We all know how fast this guy is, but the skill he showed in that little corner on the left side…” Said Smith.

“He goes through the hands. Walker again, he’s just chewing Queensland numbers and places.

“(Addo-Carr) looked inside to pass. He was covered. So Josh Addo-Carr said, ‘I’ll do it myself, I’ll do it myself, Cody’. Chip and chase. Test to try.

“What a Blues play!”

Thompson’s “Slater-esque” call was a throwback to Billy Slater’s try in the 2004 Origin series, when the veteran striker shot a Darren Lockyer grubber, came down the pitch, hit Anthony Minichiello, collected it again and scored.
