The police enter Florida They arrested the mother of the girl in the death of her 9-month-old baby after she gave the child a bottle laced with fentanyl.
The boy, who has not been named publicly because of his age, reportedly told police he believed he had given the child cocaine and not fentanyl — a powerful and deadly opioid. WESH reports.

Medical Examiner Finds Baby Has Enough Fentanyl In His System To Kill 10 People
A medical examiner found the child had 27 nanograms of fentanyl in his system, Nassau County. Sheriff Bill Leeper he told WESH. That’s six times the amount that would kill an adult, he added.
Additionally, authorities said the amount of fentanyl the child had in his system could kill 10 people.
“Most babies are born to loving parents who take care of their every need, but unfortunately, some babies are born to people who have no business being parents,” Leeper said at a press conference.
“I can’t imagine why a mother would do this to her child,” Leeper said CALB.

Leeper added that the teenager said she believed she was pregnant while being held after her arrest on June 26.
Life-Saving Procedures Performed on a 9-Month-Old Baby
On June 26, the tired mother prepared a bottle for her newborn baby to sleep. CALB.
“She took the baby’s bottle, filled it with milk, then went to the bathroom and got a bottle of pills,” Leeper said. “He put some of what he thought was cocaine in a bottle.”
Authorities were called to the home before the child woke up. Also, CALB reports say emergency workers attempted life-saving measures.
“They put him in his room to sleep and he didn’t wake up,” Leeper said. CBS news. “Who does that?” What can a mother do? That is not unusual. That’s sick. It is impossible for a mother to do this to her child.”

Teen Charged with Aggravated Murder, Multiple Charges, Arrest Could Follow
However, the authorities said that he died after rushing the child to a nearby hospital.
On Monday (Jul. 10), the medical examiner ruled the child’s death a fentanyl overdose.
In addition, Sheriff Leeper said there were other adults in the home at the time the infant was poisoned with fentanyl. He said that more cases may follow, according to WESH. The investigation into the child’s death is ongoing.
Meanwhile, a 17-year-old woman has been charged with aggravated murder and drug possession.
