Kane Cornes has criticized St Kilda coach Ross Lyon for the side’s performance


Port Adelaide big Kane Cornes he has fallen St Kilda’s The latest drop, claiming their season so far has been “ruined” as manager Ross Lyon looks to guide his side to the final.

“It’s been a really devastating year,” Cornes said on Nine’s Footy Classified Monday night.

“You could say they’re getting worse this year on some metrics, their struggle to win is well documented.

“I think they expected a change.”

St Kilda have won nine games so far in 2023 and are sixth in the table, but have lost five of their last seven games.

Cornes also expressed his concerns surrounding the Saints’ game plan that could not match the competition’s players.

“Ross Lyon is starting to release the status quo and the amount of content needed to make it happen,” he said.

Essendon forward Matthew Lloyd has called on Lyon to look inward and respond to their scoring woes and inability to stop the Gold Coast Suns on Saturday.

“Ross Lyon’s results were there early,” Lloyd said on Monday night.

“He needs to focus on himself and the staff out there to speed up the way the good sides play the game.”

St Kilda face 17th-placed North Melbourne on Sunday at Marvel Stadium, in a must-win game to keep their finals hopes alive.
