League icon Billy Slater he has encouraged both NRL and The Rugby League Players Association to “grow” as the media players approach the full moon.
The bitter salary dispute shows no signs of ending between the two teams, with players still refusing to speak to the media on match days.
Slater was tight-lipped when asked about his thoughts on the media boycott.

“Interesting, growth. Both parties must grow and just do this,” said Wide World of Sports’. The Billy Slater Podcast.
“The players are not talking to the media, this is getting ridiculous now, can we grow up and fix this? I don’t understand.
“To watch a fast game and not hear from the players after the game, I don’t understand how we can’t sit down and fix something.”

Slater admitted he didn’t mind the media boycott at first, but said it took too long.
“I didn’t feel like this when it started happening, like to make your point, enough, (but) that was three weeks ago, we were in the Origin camp. That was a long time ago,” he said.

“We’re better connected these days, you can make phone calls, you can make phone calls, you can go see people, let’s fix that.
“It’s a part of growing up that I don’t understand.
“For this to happen for three weeks, people are just stubborn, that’s all. What is three weeks?
“Are we going to go three months? Is this going to be the last time? It’s not important.”
