The View, a talk show that has captivated audiences for years, took a moment to pay tribute to one of its founders and former executive producer, Bill Geddie. During the tribute, beloved host of The View, Whoopi Goldberg, as well as former writers and former cast members fondly recalled their experiences with the late Bill Geddie. Apart from showing his funny antics on the show, he showed how he touches their lives with love and sincerity.

Goldberg, with his signature wit and wit, opened the episode by describing Geddie as “68 years old, silly, and funny”. But underneath his funny exterior, Geddie was a pillar of support during the show’s troubled times.

Her former host, Sherri Shepherd, shared her story about her struggles with controversy during her time on The View. In 2007, Shepherd’s comments about the shape of the Earth caused a stir. Despite the backlash, Geddie delivered his words of encouragement and practical facts with a funny twist: “No! It’s the votes, kid!”

Whoopi Goldberg remembers Bill Geddie’s encouragement during difficult times

For Goldberg, it was two of the most difficult times when Geddie’s support and understanding was evident. In 2007, he defended football player Michael Vick in the midst of a legal battle involving dog fighting. In 2022, he found himself suspended from the show for two weeks after making a reference to the Holocaust. Geddie’s message to him was clear – The View enjoys diversity of opinion, and as a columnist, he was there to express his true beliefs.

The View has become a platform for talented co-stars to shine, and current host Sunny Hostin shared her experience with Geddie during her screening. Instead of watching other reviewers argue over the topic, Geddie’s unflinching advice was rousing: “You should be at the show, not watching the show.”

Even after leaving the show in 2014, Geddie continued to provide direction, showing his undying commitment to the people he coached.
