In 2014, the famous producer Sajid was sick made his directorial debut with Salman Khan-led Kick. The film became a huge hit and still holds the record as the highest-grossing debut film in India at the $200 million mark. In the last 9 years, there has been a lot of talk about Kick, and Sajid Nadiadwala has also confirmed that he will take the director’s chair again for Kick 2 with Salman.
‘Salman has heard of Kick 2,’ says Sajid Nadiadwala
In an exclusive interview with Pinkvilla in Dubai, Sajid Nadiadwala revealed that Kick is his favorite IP and promised Kick 2 soon. “I made myself a director with Kick and it is my favorite IP. The time I talk about Kick, I receive messages from companies and even the digital world has questions about when Kick 2 will go. Now, I promise that there will be an extension of Kick. The story is on paper, it is written but it needs time. We need a bigger scale and better timing for its release. We need to be using films in fashion to make Kick. Once we get back to normal, I will be ready to take Kick 2 down,” Sajid confirms.
The producer insists that he is careful with the sequel as there is a lot of hope among the audience for the actor. “First, it was in my mind but now it is written on paper. Salman has also heard and now I just want the audience’s happiness to come back and then we can plan Kick 2 accordingly,” he admits. Expanding on his thoughts on the use of cinema in a post-Covid world, Sajid explains, “Right now we are in the blind alley of Covid, and we have to respect the time the audience needs. They need a great reason to come to the theaters and we have to make a good film so that let’s get them back.”
‘We can’t be tired,’ says Sajid Naidadwala
He adds, “We cannot be free; We have to provide a very cinematic experience. We have to work hard to provide value not only for their money but also for their time. They have come to seek the best and not the ‘best’ of the ‘good’. ” Sajid Nadiadwala is gearing up for the release of Bawaal on Amazon Prime on July 21.
