The changes to Mr. Biden’s control over White House press releases are an attempt to stifle the press, according to lawmakers.
“The Biden administration will stop at nothing to silence and discredit all critics,” Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., told The Daily Signal in an email Thursday. “There’s no one who won’t work for Biden, including journalists who dare to tell the truth.”
Gosar’s comments came in response story that the chief reporter of The Daily Signal, Fred Lucassoon he may lose his White House “difficult passage” due to policy changes.
According to the new White House policy, journalists must first obtain “press approval from the US Senate, the US House of Representatives, or the Supreme Court” to obtain or maintain their White House press credentials.
Lucas has applied for warrants in Congress and the Supreme Court, but it is unclear when he will hear if he will get one, as Supreme Court press cases are rare and disobedient media outlets struggle to get warrants from Congress.
Lucas has caught it his White House reporters passed 14 years, but as of July 31, without one, he can no longer enter the briefing room of the White House.
“I’m begging [House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.] to provide press briefings to The Daily Signal to ensure their presence at the White House continues uninterrupted,” said Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla.
“Mr. Lucas’ time in the White House has spanned both Democrat and Republican administrations,” said Rep. Harriet Hageman, R-Wyo.
“Joe Biden is doing the most ambiguous job in presidential history, blocking — directly or by proxy — anyone who would ask a tough question, look at a questionable statement, or give their answer,” he said.
According to Hageman, Biden’s administration is trying to block the Daily Signal’s White House press releases “on a charge of negligence.”
Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said the new policy is part of the “Biden administration’s campaign for free speech,” adding that “If Big Tech doesn’t count, they’re going to force it to end free speech.” relaxed at its core.”
Gaetz said he thinks “the White House is changing its guidelines to keep information from the press because the American people have realized the extent of the fraud of the Biden family.”
Gaetz’s comments come the same day Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, released an FBI document that includes references to a $10 million bribe involving both Joe Biden and son Hunter Biden and the Ukrainian oil company Burisma Holdings.
The official form is known as FD-1023, and the four-page document appears to show that the owner of Burisma Holdings was “forced” to pay Joe and Hunter Biden $5 million each when Biden was vice president and the younger Biden was on the company’s board.
The payments were allegedly part of a deal between the Bidens and Burisma Holdings owner Mykola Zlochevsky to remove Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the company. Biden pressured Ukraine to fire the prosecutor, but Biden defenders say the vice president at the time wanted the prosecutor fired out of fear that Shokin was prone to corruption.
Lucas is has been described extensively on Hunter Biden’s alleged dealings with Burisma Holdings and his bad reputation laptop.
